Ekovir 200 mg - Antiviral agent. It is active against herpes simplex virus (Herpes simplex) type 1 and type 2, shingles virus (Varicella zoster), Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. After penetration into the cell infected with the virus, acyclovir under the action of thymidine kinase is transformed into active acyclovir triphosphate. The latter interacts with viral DNA polymerase and is incorporated into DNA, which is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, defective viral DNA is formed, which leads to the suppression of the replication of new generations of viruses.

INDICATIONS

Herpes simplex infections, including neonatal herpes (treatment and prophylaxis); shingles; chicken pox (treatment).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

hypersensitivity to acyclovir.

SIDE EFFECTS

skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, increased fatigue are possible.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

treatment with acyclovir should begin as early as possible, if possible, in the prodromal period of the disease. The use of acyclovir during pregnancy is possible only for health reasons. The active substance penetrates into breast milk, so for the duration of treatment it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.
